This includes both full-time and part-time employees as well as independent contractors working for a company.
In Massachusetts, domestic employees must work at least 16 hours a week to be covered under a workers’ compensation policy.
Members of a limited liability company (LLC), partners of a limited liability partnership (LLP), or sole proprietors of an unincorporated business however, are not required to carry workers’ compensation insurance for themselves in Massachusetts.
Those employees who are not LLC or LLP members are still required to be covered under workers’ compensation insurance.
